Electric vehicles are fast, convenient, green, and environmentally friendly, making them very popular. More and more people are choosing electric vehicles as their preferred mode of transportation because they are effortless and powerful! Due to frequent riding and friction, bearings are inevitably prone to failure.
The factors causing bearing damage include:
1. Quality issues with the bearing itself, such as substandard steel strength and poor material quality.
2. Bearings exposed to the elements and poorly sealed are susceptible to water ingress (e.g., the right front wheel bearing; the bearing inside the motor's non-brake end cap) and oil seal damage. Water can wash away the grease inside the bearing, leading to poor lubrication and rust, increasing friction and causing the bearing to wear out and break down.
3. If the wheel is subjected to heavy impact or the axle is not hard enough and bends or deforms, the bearing will be subjected to uneven force during operation, causing wear on the inner and outer rings, leading to bearing damage!
4. Inaccurate machining of the bearing hole, resulting in slight deformation of the bearing, increases friction during operation, leading to premature wear and failure!
Therefore, if your bearings fail, repair them promptly. Forcing the vehicle to operate with damaged bearings may cause the rear wheel motor bearing to detach, and the resulting metal fragments can cut and damage the coil, rendering it unusable. In the front wheel, this can cause the bearing housing to wear down, preventing the bearing from being properly secured! When replacing bearings, be sure to choose high-quality, wear-resistant bearings!
1. When replacing bearings, check the end cap oil seal. If the oil seal is not properly sealed, replace it as well!
2. Factory-installed bearings often have very little or no lubricant. Please pry open the bearing seal and add appropriate lubricant!
3. If the bearing hole is loose, for safety reasons, the wheel rim or motor end cap should be replaced!
4. After the bearings are installed, please lift the wheel off the ground and check if it rotates smoothly and freely, without any resistance or jamming. If there is any resistance or jamming, the bearings may not be properly installed; please reinstall them! Otherwise, it will cause friction, the wheel will not rotate smoothly, and forcing it to operate will cause the bearings to fail quickly!
5. Advise the customer to avoid riding in wet areas to prevent water ingress and rust, which will cause the bearings to fail!
Bearings bear the brunt of rotational friction; therefore, regular inspection and maintenance are crucial to extend their lifespan. Proper maintenance will ensure they perform better for you! Only your care and attention will extend the range and lifespan of your electric vehicle!
